6 ozs Self Raising Flour
4 ozs Margarine
7 ozs Sugar
Half teaspoonful Salt
Half teaspoonful Cinnamon
Half teaspoonful Pudding Spice
Quarter teaspoonful Ground Cloves
2 Eggs ( yolks whites separated )
2 ozsPlain Chocolate
2 teaspoonful finely chopped candied peel.
8 tablespoons Milk.

Cream together the sugar and margarine until fluffy.
Blend in the melted chocolate and the 2 yolks of eggs.
Mix the saltand spices with the flour and stir in alternately with milk.
Fold in the stiffly beatenegg whites and the candied peel.
Bake in a moderate oven (350 F Gas mark 3)
About 45 min in a baking tin about 8" square
Cool and spread with icing.
Leaving out the candied peel and the Spices this will make a delicious Chocolate cake
